ABDUL KALAM SIR-MAN WITH THE MISSION FOR INDIANS

Bharat Ratna Dr. Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam was born on October 15 1931…am proud to join the earth on the same date but in a different year…he was the eleventh president of India, serving 2002-2007.Despite being a fisherman’s son he has become the successful and powerful person. At the initial stage of his education, he was helped by his teacher. He initially started his carrier as a newspaper vendor and he has even mentioned it in the book “A BOY AND HIS DREAM”. He has also mentioned in “WINGS OF FIRE” that he never could imagine that water could be powerful a destroying force as he witnessed when he was 13.That was in 1964 when a cyclone storm swept away the pamban bridge and a trainload of passengers and kalam’s native village dhanushkodi…

He was graduated from madras institute of technology. He also played major part in developing many missiles of India including Agni and prithvi...He is not only Indian nuclear scientist but also considered as main pillar of Indian space program’s. The government has honoured him with the nation’s highest civilian honours; the Padma Bhushan in 1981; Padma vibushan in 1990; and the Bharath ratna in 1997. Kalam is the Fourth President of India to have been honoured with a Bharath ratna before being elected to the highest office.

He has written a book, “vision for the new millennium”. it examines in the weakness and strength of India as a nation and offers a vision of how India can emerge to be among the world’s first four economic powers by 2020.armed with powerful opening, it is yet another example of Abdul kalam’s direction and vision for India. The book is dedicated to a young girl whom kalam met and asked as “what is your dream” for which the girl replied, “I want to live in a developed India”...sure the dream will cum true and I will finish with these lines

"A developed India by 2020, even  earlier, is not a dream. It need not be a mere vision in the minds of many Indians. It is a mission we can all take up - and succeed."

I dedicate this award to my nation: A.R. Rahman

The name A.R. Rahman seems to have become a mantra for everyone! This musical maestro has done something that no one else had been able to do in the 98-year history of Indian Cinema! By winning a Golden Globe (for best original score in Slum dog Millionaire), A.R. Rahman has put a broad smile on the face of every Indian.

When this national hero arrived at Chennai airport on Thursday, a humungous crowd and 100 plus artists who are participating in the ongoing Chennai Sangamam gave him a rousing welcome. Though obviously tired from his long and arduous journey, a patient Rahman answered several queries of the reporters. Through them, he thanked the entire nation for their love and support and announced that he is dedicating the award to them.

A.R. Rahman also thanked Danny Boyle for giving him the opportunity to work in the film and also said that Vipul Shah and Simon Beaufoy’s script inspired him to come up with this brilliant composition.

On his reaction to winning the award, the maestro said that he is very happy, more so because he was able to fulfill the longstanding wish of the nation for an individual Golden Globe or an Oscar. He once again thanked them all for their prayers and affection.

You have made the nation feel proud….you rock a.r.r.

FRIENDS

LIFE WITHOUT A FRIEND IS LIKE DEATH WITHOUT A WITNESS

It’s obvious that a life of a person would appear so if they don’t have a friend…Friendship it’s a beautiful feeling. None of them can be trusted in this world and the only exception to that is a close friend. You can trust him and say anything in the world. Even most of us hide many things to our parents but not our friends…

"True happiness consists not in the multitude of friends, but in their worth and choice."

People may think that we can do anything if we have a bunch of friends we can do anything in this world…but it is not so. We can do anything if we have less than a bunch but trusted friends. I mean even the whole world turns opposite to u, he must be supporting to u…If you have got such a type of friend then the please don’t ever leave them treasure them like a Jewell and live for them...

JANUARY 16TH-KAANUM PONGAL

This day is very similar to RakhsaBandhan and Bhai Dhuj in that it is predominantly a festival where women offer prayers for the well being of their brothers. The women perform this ritual before bathing in the morning. All the women, young and old, of the house, assemble in the courtyard. The rice is placed in the centre of the leaf, while the women ask that the house and family of their brothers should prosper. Arati is performed for the brothers with turmeric water, limestone and rice, and this water is sprinkled on the kolam in front of the house.

On this day, people travel to see other family members and the younger members of the family pay homage to the elders, and the elders thank them by giving token money. Another thing many do is leave food out on banana leaves for birds to take. Many South Indian people take the first bit of rice cooked in any given day and set it outside for the crows to take, so this is not necessarily a habit only for Pongal. Some also go to temple to worship and thank god for all good things that are bestowed on them.

JANUARY 15TH-MAATU PONGAL

The third day of the festival is known as “maatu pongal” which is an occasion for offering thanks to cattle for their help to farmers in the field of agriculture. On this day cattle are well decorated with paint, flowers and bells and are allowed to roam. The cattle are then well fed with sweet rice and sugarcane. On this day “JALLIKATTU-BULLFIGHT”, traditional and famous game of TamilNadu is held and prizes are distributed...

HAPPY PONGAL TO ALL

According to Hindu mythology, this is when the day of the gods begins, after a six-month long night. The festival is spread over three days and is the most important and most fervently-celebrated harvest festival of South India. A special puja is performed on the first day of Pongal before the cutting of the paddy. Farmers worship the sun and the earth by anointing their ploughs and sickles with sandal wood paste. It is with these consecrated tools that the newly-harvested rice is cut.

Each of the three days are marked by different festivities. The first day, Bhogi Pongal, is a day for the family. Surya Pongal, the second day, is dedicated to the worship of Surya, the Sun God. Boiled milk and jaggery is offered to the Sun God. The third day of Pongal, Mattu Pongal, is for worship of the cattle known as Mattu. Cattle are bathed, their horns polished and painted in bright colors, and garlands of flowers placed around their necks. The Pongal that has been offered to the Gods is then given to cattle and birds to eat.no other function is celebrated in such a grand manner in tamilnadu, like the way in which pongal is celebrated....

ENJOY ALL THE THREE DAYS HAPPY PONGAL TO ALL

FIND YOURSELF-BE THE BEST

I have come to realize that most of us in this world do not use the incredible potential which we have inside ourselves to the fullest, except few. Certain of our considerable capacities are completely dormant. It might be due our ignorance, situation in which we are held up, financial constraints and so on. I now know that all are somewhere very different and unique that we have immense qualities which are simply not exploited and I am going to give you a precise example to illustrate the situation which most of us are in at certain point of time, please read on:

Imagine a person who has never known any modern technology (for example someone living in the heart of a dense jungle). One day this person is given a radio tuned in to a very precise radio station and he finds it suddenly extraordinary to be able to listen to music through what is essentially a small box. He is told that to listen to this music he need only press the 'on' button without having to do anything else to listen to this music. This person thinks this radio is a wonderful invention and then spends a number of years listening to this radio and to the same program as the radio stays on the same station all of the time. And then one day someone else comes along and shows him that there are a multitude of other stations and frequencies to listen to with many other programs that can be as interesting as the first.... all are in the position of this person  and our potential can be compared to this radio. Our potential is not yet fully exploited and we are not yet aware of certain of your hidden talents. We must become aware of the happenings around us and in life when we get a person who shows us exactly how we can tune in to these new frequencies. This is a metaphorical example but it demonstrates clearly the situation in which we find ourselves at a certain point of time.

So let us discover ourselves and kick of our unique talents and we must be aware of different fields, so that we reach the peak of it...I like to finish it with a single line….’’IGNORANCE IS BLISS ATTIMES, BUT NOT ALLTIMES’’
